- Went to an ice cream place today and after my group ordered and we went outside, we were short a chair so asked (in our 6 year old Spanish) if we can borrow a chair from the next table, to which they respond in French and then we respond in English. ayyyyee.
- I had to go to a study center for international students to buy a book for class. After hearing one guy get interviewed and say "wait. donde means where right?", I feel much more confident of my abilities.
- I now say "Gracia", like the locals and not "Gracias". I know, very Spanish of me. Also, I have learned not to use "usted"......Spaniards legit get mad if you use "tu" to address them. Which is hard to change when I have always been told that it is used for people as a form of respect, and to never address someone with "tu".
- I was able to successfully write summary of my first Spanish cinema going-out experience of the movie La Piel Que Me Habito, staring Antonio Banderas. It was an incredibly bizarre movie, but I loved it.
- My host parents have remarkably decreased the need to correct my tense conjugations. (Carmen has also started calling me guapisima - I wont object to flattery!)
- I had a 20 minute conversation with the 4 yr old granddaughter of my homestay and she said she was glad we were friends and asked me to play dominoes with her. Precious.
- I was able to solve a cellphone problem with the cell company on my own. NBD.
Sidenote: I'm a big fan of siesta time which is my hour long nap after lunch.
Typical Spanish day timeline:
9:30 Wakeup...this is kinda hard for me since I'm still waking up at 7:30/8ish and the rest of my house is dead asleep.
10:45/11 Snackie or light breakfast
2:30/3 Lunch
SIESTA - ahmazing. Especially since its still hotter than hell itself here and the heat+walking = a quick loss of all energy
6 - 7 snackie...nom nom
9-10:30 Dinner
y despues....
enjoy the night!
